Betsy Is Wreck Graveyard

Experience:  experienced open water

The ships gravyard lies 100m west of Little Betsy Island and can be detected easily with an echo sounder. 3 wrecks lie almost toughing each other, SS William Cowper, a 170 foot steel dredge, SS Macquarie, 123 foot steam dredge and ANM Barge can all be seen from a carefully laid anchor line. The wrecks sit on a muddy bottom at 20 meters and are still reasonably in tact. Experienced wreck dives can penetrate these safely. They attract a lot of marine life and are a great night dive.
