Lonsdale Wall

Site layout:
-Starts at The Rip & extends into the bay nearly 1km -Almost vertical drop offs, in a series of steps -Follows the ancestral path of the Yarra river

Points of interest:
-Lonsdale platform is to the West in 13m - flat rocky kelp covered reef -Wall is a series of escarpments & undercut ledges -Caverns at 20m -Zoanthids, sponges, soft corals, large bryozoan colonies, Butterfly Perch, Long Snouted Boarfish, Blue Throated Wrasse & Blue Devil Fish -Past 30m: garden of delicate corals, jewel anemones, hydroids & sea whips

Bottom composition: Rock Wall with kelp
Water movement/currents: Strong tidal currents, dive only on slack water (approx. 30mins). Usually good visibility due to continual flushing with clean ocean water
Hazards: Current, Depth, shipping
