Abrolhos Islands

These magnificent islands off Geraldton offer some of the finest diving in Australia. The Abrolhos Islands consist of three separate groups of islands 70km west of Geraldton
The wreck of the Batavia is the major attraction. There is no restriction on diving the wreck and cannon and an anchor may be seen. Underwater visibility often exceeds 35m. Here the coral and fish are a photographers dream. Some say the Abrolhos Reefs provide more colour in one concentrated area than anything that can be found on the Great Barrier Reef.

,P>One of the favorite dive sites is on the east side of Pelsaert Island, where a steep drop-off goes down from 6m tp 25m. The fish are plentiful with Butterfly Cod, Longsnout Boarfish, Jewfish and Baldchin Groper. Out from the wall are large coral bommies rising from the sand seabed attracting Goatfish, Zebra Angelfish, Coral trout, sharks and mackeral. Visibility here is rarely less than 20m and often exceeds 45m.
